Settling in Day

Today was the day we would get everything out we haven't used yet (i.e.) outdoor stuff, like chairs, BBQ, put out the awning, etc.  It's nice to finally settle into a place and know we don't need to move anything for a month!

We finally also got our cable TV and internet working.  Apparently the cable outlet for this site is not in good shape, so we plugged it into the back one.  Perfect!  And the guy gave us a small (as in short) cable to use with the splitter they gave us.  Bonus.  The internet is the best we've ever seen anywhere in RV parks.  They gave us our own router to use.

After thoroughly cleaning the inside of the RV, I took a break in the morning and walked Tibby over to the dog walk area.  Nice spot for humans, let alone dogs.  Large dogs have a "boat ramp" where they can run into the water, with toys to chase.

Tibby wasn't into that.  He's not into much but sniffing around.  His hound dog nose won't let him stop.

Here's Gerard BBQing a couple of dogs for lunch (not from the dog park).

After lunch, we got our bikes out and did a little tour of the whole resort.  Very nice.  3 different pools.  We'll have to check out the one next to us tomorrow.  It's supposed to be really hot here (as if it's not now!)  We had our name tags prepared complete with photos, which we needed in order to get tickets for Casino Night and various other events.  I didn't plan to have a photo taken with baseball cap planted over a sweaty head of hair.  I left the cap on.

This place has a lot happening which you can choose to join if you want.

We met a few people here and there, some from Canada.  And wouldn't you know it, the husband of the lady we talked to in the office is from ORILLIA!  We're everywhere, like spies!

Gerard went to grab a couple of things at the drug store and ended up getting the truck washed by hand for $10!  They did a fantastic job - I think better than last year's job where we paid $40 or $50.  So he gave them $15.  Wildly generous tip.  Take that, Niagara Falls (if anyone doesn't know that story, ask me and I'll gladly tell you about the NF rip-off).

We ended the day with a yummy steak dinner to celebrate work getting done and being firmly planted for a while.

  1. Glad you arrived safely. Must say I am concerned there seems to be orillians everywhere! Must be some kind of cultural infiltration conspiracy. Happy for tibby - so many new smells for him to investigate. Looks like a lovely place you are staying. I look forward to following along. Sue.

    1. Orillians have infiltrated all facets of society in North America to do good things...well, as good as we can.

      Enjoy!

  2. Not sure if this is true or not but I have heard that the really smart people are from Orillia. They need to spread themselves around to ensure that the level of intelligence is balanced throughout the world.

    1. I agree with that! And that explanation is the most reasonable I can see.
