Whew, It was a hot one!

I've avoided mentioning the heat here, just because I know all of you up north will be pooh poohing it.  But today was an exception.  It was supposed to get up to 97F, but only made it to 93F.

We wanted to get out and do some walking earlier in the day because of the heat.  So we headed out to Estero Llano Grande State Park which is, more or less, right around the corner.  It's mainly a birding kind of park with lots of water for water birds and such.  We saw lots of birders here, heading out with their giant cameras, tripods, and binoculars.

I did catch a couple of birds with my camera, but I had not taken my telephoto lens, so couldn't get real close-ups.

We knew we were out of our league when we came across a group of birders.  The one was telling us how they had seen some kind of bird (which we'd never heard of), and where it was.  She was pretty excited.  Another was willing to take us to see it even though they were leaving.  They assumed because we were there, that's what we were there for.  We nicely backed out of them accompanying us to see the bird.  We like birds OK, but sheesh.  I guess we're not birders.

Then we saw this big pr($#k.  Gerard stood in front of it.

We wandered around there for a couple of hours, and the heat was starting to get to us.  So we came back to our RV for some air-conditioning and lunch.

After lunch, we headed over to the pool for a dip.

I can't say the water is very refreshing.  It was pretty warm.  But it was nice after you got out.

This is the little bridge from the road to the pool area.  Very nice.

Tomorrow it's supposed to be more than 10 degrees F cooler, thank goodness.  Today was too hot.
